Whitewater

Favorite runs:

• Chili Bar, South Fork American. Old dependable.


• Middle Fork American. Tunnel Chute is a blast. The long class II middle section can be a drag though.


• Kings, Banzai. Spring runoff on the Kings often gets into the 7000-10000 CFS range. Big water fun. A long drive from the Bay Area, but worth it.


• East Fork Carson. An easy 2-day float through high desert wilderness. Hot springs at the overnight stop.


• Stanislaus, Camp 9. Haven't done this since New Melones was filled. One of these years when the reservoir is low I'd like to go back.
